About Project

Battlewall is a mixed-reality multiplayer game that combines physical interaction, virtual units and a shared screen into an arcade-style battle experience. Two players compete on opposing sides of a physical Powerwall, using mixed-reality devices to throw virtual units onto their respective sides of the battlefield. Once deployed, the units appear on the shared screen and automatically join the ongoing battle.

Each unit type has different strengths and weaknesses, encouraging players to consider where and when they deploy their units. Strategic placement is central to the gameplay, as players need to react to the changing battlefield and choose units that can counter their opponent's current forces.

Players can also interact with power-ups while deploying their units. These provide temporary advantages when the units spawn or increase the player's available unit budget, allowing them to influence the battle beyond simply choosing which units to deploy.

Battlewall also makes the audience an active part of the game rather than simply an observer. A third participant can use an index controller to point at and select different world events, which are then deployed into the battlefield. These events can affect units on either side, creating an unpredictable layer that can change the course of the fight.

The combination of mixed-reality interaction, strategic unit deployment and audience-controlled events creates a multiplayer experience designed for both participation and spectatorship. The project brings players and audiences together around a shared battlefield, creating a social arcade experience in which anyone who can aim and throw can contribute to the ongoing battle.
