LAB NIGHTS – VOL. IV
LAB NIGHTS – VOL. IV – another resounding success!
With around a hundred guests and performers, LAB NIGHTS Vol. IV marked the start of the 2026 summer term at the university and within the faculty in impressive style.
The event kicked off with the seven-piece ensemble ‘Happy Metal’, who immediately captured the audience’s attention with their powerful brass sounds from the gallery. This was followed by a finely tuned quartet comprising three violins and a flute, which delighted the audience with works by Dvořák and variations on *The Magic Flute*. This performance was the result of a collaboration with the Mainz University of Music – a partnership that promises to continue bringing top-class, outstanding musicians in the future.
The atmospheric finale was provided by ‘Duo Klavio’, who performed not only classical pieces but also Italian classics, creating a charming conclusion to the evening.
The WasserBARhalle was open from 6.00 pm, offering drinks and pretzels to provide the ideal setting for unwinding after a day’s work. A heartfelt thank you to the dedicated team behind the bar!
Given the later date in the year, the LIGHT Show only came into its own during the second half of the event – and impressively set the industrial-style hydraulic engineering hall in the spotlight.
After VOL. IV comes VOL. V: in November 2026, we’ll also be welcoming the new 2026/27 winter semester – the grand piano, complete with a talented pianist, is a hallmark of the event; the concepts of the WasserBARhalle and club culture have almost become a tradition, the combination of light and music remains, as does the collaboration between the Media and Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering – and perhaps some fresh ideas will also find their way into LAB NIGHTS VOL. V! Here’s to the next one – and THANK YOU to the whole “LAB NIGHTS team”!
