StadtWerkstatt Medien – Encounters in Dieburg
Islands of Memory
The Museum Schloss Fechenbach in Dieburg presents “Islands of Memory”, a media art exhibition showcasing digital artworks created as part of the participatory project “StadtWerkstatt Medien – Encounters in Dieburg”. The exhibition, curated by students on the Master’s programme in International Media Cultural Work (IMC), will be open to the public on 24 and 25 January 2026. The opening will take place on Friday, 23 January 2026 at 6.30 pm.
Originally created in Dieburg’s town square as an open public space for meeting, creative exchange and collective remembrance, the works are now presented in the museum as a series of interconnected “islands of memory”. The exhibition brings together sound installations, video works, interactive media projects and visual narratives, each offering a distinct approach to experiencing memory through sound, movement, storytelling, digital interaction or visual reflection. Together, the installations reveal fragments of individual and collective experience shaped through shared creative processes
“Islands of Memory” demonstrates how participatory media art practices can be adapted to a museum context, transforming workshop-based processes into immersive, spatially curated exhibition experiences. Visitors are invited to explore, engage with, and reflect upon the ways in which media art can make memory visible, audible and tangible.
