Success for IMC students at the International FullDome Festival in Jena
From 15 to 17 July 2026, the FullDome Festival took place at the Zeiss Planetarium in Jena. The festival has been running for 20 years and celebrated its anniversary this year under the slogan “20 is the new 100”.
Out of a total of 13 student entries, three were selected by the jury from students on the International Media Cultural Work study programme – one of which even won in a non-student category:
ECHOES OF A THOUGHT THAT DIED
Laura Pachón, Berfin Fiskeci, Alban Tufa
Duration: 4 mins
This film transforms the fulldome into an interactive sensory organ that depicts the human mind as a space of chaotic sounds and blurred images. The physical sphere acts as an eye-like interface. When interacting with it, only one area comes into focus, whilst the rest remains black – a hint that, in a world inundated with data, meaning arises only where we direct our attention.
SPLIT MIND
Avani Vidhani, Marina Rodrigues Semensati, Robin Wiemann (laboratory engineer)
Duration: 5 mins
A fulldome experience with live performance, inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s ‘The Fall of the House of Usher’. Immerse yourself in the character’s consciousness as it disintegrates from within. A stable and rigid mind transforms into psychedelic chaos, whilst a performer emerges whose body acts as the catalyst for this transformation
and physically embodies the progressive dissolution of consciousness within a shifting architectural space.
ZERO TIME MOMENT
Daria Dolmatova (winner of the “Women in Fulldome” Award)
Duration: 4 mins
‘Zero Time Moment’ is a short film inspired by the experience
of emigration, a sense of disorientation caused by physical uprooting,
languages that fail to connect, and a body that cannot
rest. It transports the viewer into the Architecture of fear: a
state of mind in which time stands still and fear takes on a spatial
form – circular, inhabited, and to which one ultimately surrenders.
