"Tomorrow, Somewhere by the Sea" on the ARD media library
The feature film “Tomorrow, Somewhere by the Sea”, based on the young adult novel of the same name by Adriana Popescu, has been available to watch in full on the ARD Mediathek since 29 July 2025. With his final-year project for the Motion Pictures study programme, director and writer Patrick Büchting won, amongst other awards, the City of Chemnitz’s Grand Prize at the 2024 “Schlingel” international film festival, and the film was awarded the rating “particularly valuable” by the German Film and Media Rating Board.
Despite their strained friendship, Konrad manages to persuade Romy to go to the seaside with him during the summer holidays after their A-levels. When Romy’s boyfriend Julian and the mysterious Nele also join the road trip, Konrad fears the journey was a daft idea. The others, however, are left wondering: why does Konrad actually want to go to Lisbon?
