Leadership, Health and Personality

Resilience is becoming a key concept in modern leadership and education. The project analyses existing programmes and develops practical concepts for a centre of excellence that will embed mindfulness-based personal development sustainably within higher education culture.

Duration:November 2024 to December 2025
Funding body:Internal funding

Resilience has long since become more than just an individual coping mechanism – it is increasingly seen as a guiding principle for society as a whole. The German Ethics Council, political decision-makers and academic committees emphasise its importance at the individual, organisational and systemic levels. In a world of multiple crises, the ability to deal constructively with uncertainty is becoming central to leadership and education. This project addresses this development and links it to the latest issues in personal development within the higher education context. It aims to strategically consolidate and professionalise existing measures to promote (self-)leadership and resilience.

Project Timeline

At the start of the project, a thorough benchmarking analysis will be carried out to systematically map the market for existing training, coaching and certification programmes. This will identify market niches, quality characteristics and target group orientations. Based on this analysis, the project team will develop several practice-oriented scenarios for establishing a centre of excellence at the university. These scenarios will take into account existing resources, institutional frameworks and the needs of the target groups. Particular attention is paid to ensuring compatibility with the existing ‘Mindful Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences’ project, whose initiatives are to be integrated and further developed.

Aim of the project

The project aims to develop a robust, scientifically sound concept for a centre of excellence that will embed the themes of (self-)leadership, resilience and personal development in the long term. It is intended to serve as a central platform to support students, teaching staff and staff members in their personal development and leadership skills.
