The Mittelstand-Digital Centre for Future Culture supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in developing a future-proof corporate culture and embedding it in their day-to-day working practices. Such a culture forms the basis for digital transformation and sustainable business development. The focus is on topics such as change, trust, communication, responsibility and sustainability.
As part of the nationwide Mittelstand-Digital network, funded by the BMWE, the Centre aims to make digitalisation and responsible innovation tangible and actionable within SMEs.
Project Overview
The Centre is a Germany-wide consortium with four locations: Potsdam, Eberswalde, Dortmund and Dieburg Campus.
It addresses key questions faced by small and medium-sized enterprises:
- How do I begin the digital transformation with limited resources?
- How do I combine technological development with a sustainable corporate culture?
- What role do values such as responsibility and trust play when dealing with AI?
To this end, the project team offers a wide range of free support options:
- Events & workshops
- Training programmes & consultation hours
- Practical examples & pilot projects
- Guides, videos & podcasts
- Blog articles & knowledge sharing
Particular emphasis is placed on the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into business practice – with a focus on using it responsibly, in a way that is explainable and ethically sound. The focus is on aspects such as AI competence, AI readiness and digital responsibility.
Objective
The aim of the project is to support SMEs in developing a future-proof corporate culture that combines technological innovation, social responsibility and sustainable development. The centre provides practical guidance, connects businesses, promotes employee engagement and strengthens long-term innovation capacity. This empowers SMEs to shape digital and sustainable transformation processes in a self-determined, responsible and strategic manner.
