United – Spot on!
On 2 March, around 50 members of five regional clubs, along with students from the ‘Video Portraits’ course, gathered at the campus cinema on the Dieburg Media Campus for the closing event of the ‘Verein(t) – Spot on!’ project. The event brought together many people who would otherwise never have met. The club members learnt about filmmaking, whilst the students gained an insight into a wide range of community involvement – and all discovered new ways of thinking and enjoyed a wonderful sense of togetherness!
Under the guidance of Angelina Dalinger and Nicolas Kronauer, and in collaboration with Magdalena Zeller from KulturRegion Rhein Main, the students created video portraits of the clubs, showcasing their work, members and roles within the cultural landscape, but above all highlighting what they have in common.Following an introduction by Dr Jennifer John, Managing Director of KulturRegion, and Angelina Dalinger from h_da, Magdalena Zeller hosted the evening, whilst tutor Zora Link posed additional questions to the film teams. This gave those attending the event an insight into the projection room of the municipal cinema in Pfungstadt, whilst members of the Friends’ Association and the KUK e.G. co-operative shed light on its history and operations. Under the motto ‘More than just handicrafts’, the Untertaunus Rural Women’s Association, Idstein, showcased its social commitment as well as its Christmas biscuit-baking activities. The Wachenbuchen Wind Orchestra (Blasorchester Wachenbuchen e.V.) was filmed during their rehearsals, a performance and an internal barbecue party, at which the film crew reported feeling immediately at home.
The ‘Zusammenleben der Kulturen e.V.’ association in Dietzenbach was able to demonstrate, through a dialogue with the filmmakers, what it stands for: namely, a diverse and vibrant community. Meanwhile, ‘Foodsharing Groß-Gerau e.V.’ was represented by its youngest members. Quote: “Throwing things away is just silly!” After the presentation, the association members, the teams responsible for organisation and film got together for a light meal to celebrate the successful completion of the project.
