FAQ
1. Do I need to prepare to run a Barcamp session?
No, not at all. If you simply want to take part, you can drop in on any session you like, listen in, join the discussion or just soak up the atmosphere. You don’t need to prepare anything or register for anything. If you’d like to run a session yourself, a rough idea is enough: a topic, a question or a problem you’d like to discuss. You don’t necessarily need a presentation or slides, though many people do prepare one. Your topic will be collected at the start and then included in the session schedule. The Barcamp thrives on everything being open and straightforward. It doesn’t matter whether you bring something along or simply take something away.
2. I won’t be able to make it until later. Is the event still worth it for me?
Absolutely. Lots of alumni only arrive after their final exams, and that’s exactly why we’ve planned a separate welcome session afterwards, so you can settle in straight away. Take your time to have a look at the programme and feel free to decide for yourself which parts you don’t want to miss. And even if you only join us later: from late afternoon onwards and throughout the evening programme, there’ll be plenty of conversations, new encounters and a really good time waiting for you.
3. How does JobConnect work, and do I need to bring my application documents?
The careers fair is very straightforward. Agencies and companies have their own tables and are looking forward to having brief or in-depth chats with you. You don’t need to bring any documents with you; a LinkedIn profile, a few good questions and genuine interest are all you need. If you’d like to bring something along, you’re of course welcome to do so.
4. Is there an opportunity at the event to have targeted conversations with alumni?
Yes, absolutely. The day’s programme includes several breaks, networking sessions and open slots where you can easily strike up a conversation with alumni. Our alumni are also very open and look forward to chatting with current Onkomm students. And in the late afternoon, the Café Zeitraum provides a dedicated space where students, alumni and teaching staff can come together and exchange ideas in a relaxed atmosphere.
