metaSpace is a living concept for the future. The idea is to extend people’s flexibility to their living spaces through technical support and to rethink the concept of space as a rigid construct. Space thus becomes a dynamic system that can adapt to people and sustainably improve their quality of life. In this concept, ambient intelligence is the essential element that autonomously designs the space. To do this, it recognises the user’s latest context and configures the space to meet their needs.
This prototype is an attempt to determine what living and space will look like in the future. This takes place on two levels. On the one hand, results are obtained through feedback from people who engage with it; on the other hand, the system gathers data on users, scenarios and use cases through constant experimentation with various visual and acoustic effects. As a result, the prototype is itself an experiment, whilst at the same time experimenting with the user. By gathering this information, the prototype optimises itself automatically and collects data from which patterns in user behaviour can be identified.
