Admission to the Augmented and Virtual Reality Design Programme

Admission to the BA Augmented and Virtual Reality Design programme is based on an artistic entrance examination. Applicants must hold a German university entrance qualification or an equivalent international qualification. As the programme is taught in English , you must provide evidence of your English language proficiency if English is not your first language.

Applicants holding a German university entrance qualification

Step 1: Online registration and submission of your application

Registration and the uploading of documents are carried out exclusively via our online portal: https://my.h-da.de.

Once you have registered, you will be given an application number. Please always include this number in all correspondence outside the application portal.
As soon as registration is successfully completed, you can begin the application process.
During the process, you will be asked to upload the relevant documents. You will also receive a link and password to our cloud storage for uploading your work samples.

Step 2: Artistic Entrance Examination

The entrance examination for the forthcoming winter semester 2026/2027 will be held online.

The artistic entrance examination consists of two parts:

Firstly, a review of your portfolio.
Secondly, if your portfolio is accepted, an online examination and interview will be held.

The three work samples should relate to the field of Augmented and Virtual Reality Design, such as:

3D experiences
Concepts
Virtual or augmented reality applications
2D/3D games
2D/3D graphics
360° video
Concept art
Storyboards
Corresponding prototypes/physical models

Please ensure that all submitted elements and files are clearly labelled with your name and function correctly. Faulty files will result in exclusion from the application process.

Applicants with an international university entrance qualification

Step 1: Formal application via Uni-Assist

The application procedure for the BA in Augmented and Virtual Reality Design at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences consists of a formal application and an artistic entrance examination, for which you must apply separately.

The formal application includes documentation of your educational qualifications. It must be submitted via UNI-ASSIST, the University Application Service for International Students.
