INTRACULT: Together? Alone? Together!
INTRACULT: Together? Alone? Together!
By pulling a few tricks out of its bag, INTRACULT is still performing together on stage, even in the Covid-19 year of 2020.
A study project by Philipp Bodor and Justin T. Niestroj, 4th semester, 2020
Supervising professors: Prof. Carsten Kümmel and Prof. Felix Krückels
The Linear Workshop in the 4th semester normally involves a band production.
But this semester, everything was different. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, it was not possible to carry out the recording in the usual way. However, the HfMDK Frankfurt’s university ensemble INTRACULT, led by Dr Gerhard Putschögl, still wanted to perform together on stage.
For this reason, we decided to pull a few tricks out of the bag and go ahead with the production in a modified form.
To comply with hygiene measures, the musicians were recorded one after the other (or in small groups) using the overdub method. This approach is not uncommon in audio production. However, to really give all the impression that the band was performing together on stage, this was supplemented with a video and pieced together through extensive post-production. With the help of a few editing and camera tricks, the entire ensemble now appears together on stage.
The finished video can be viewed on the HfMDK Frankfurt YouTube channel.
