International Media and Cultural Work
Research & Creation
The international Media Cultural Work (IMC) Master’s programme oversees numerous collaborations and research projects, and hosts academic conferences. We encourage students to take part in these and to develop their own individual research profiles.
Lecturers and students can conduct joint research on topics such as ‘media as environments’, media aesthetics education, practical audience development, 3D audio/VR audio, fulldome media and soundscape research.
As Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality have become increasingly important in the media, we take a critical approach to their popular formats and content, exploring their specific innovative potential to develop and create innovative artistic approaches. We present these at international events and conferences, for example at the ZKM (Centre for Art and Media) in Karlsruhe, Centralstation Darmstadt, Museum Schloss Fechenbach (Dieburg), German public broadcaster ARD (e.g. Hessischer Rundfunk, Südwestrundfunk), Sony Music, the German Hiking Association, the international Forest Art Festival, the Fulldome Festival Jena, Hessentag, the planetariums in Mannheim and Hamburg, the Tonmeistertagung, etc., and through this pioneering work contribute to an ongoing public discourse.
